This do pack a little sting, which help protect the clown fish. They have a mucus layer that makes them immune to the sting of the anemone. It’s a partnership because the anemone’s themselves actually prey on animals as well. They will snack on the leftovers left behind by the clown fish.

The clown fish actually does a little dance to get themselves acclimated to the sea anemone. They touch different parts of their body to the anemone to get used to and more tolerant to the sting.

You can find a clown fish swimming around the shallow waters of the western Pacific Ocean, Red Sea and Indian Ocean. You can find them hanging out at the Great Barrier Reef as well.
