Former Dallas Cowboys coach Kellen Moore was interviewed by the Philadelphia Eagles this week and could cross an NFC rivalry divide just two years after leading Dak Prescott and Co.

Offensive coordinator Kellen Moore could be crossing a divide typically not seen in the NFL: Spending time with both the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles. The NFC East rivalry spans 64 years and is typically known as one of the most intense in the league.

Moore served as the Dallas offensive coordinator in 2022 before taking the same position with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2023. On Thursday, ESPN reported that Moore will interview with Philadelphia for its vacant offensive coordinator position after the Eagles fired Brian Johnson, their former OC. Additionally, it has been reported that Moore is considered one of the top candidates available on the market currently.

Since the Cowboys-Eagles rivalry began in 1961, the two teams have met a total of 129 times - including playoffs - with the Cowboys leading the all-time series over the Eagles, 73-56. In the playoffs, Dallas and Philadelphia have met four times, with the Cowboys having won three of those matchups.

Despite such a storied rivalry on the field, Moore could be tempted to take charge of an Eagles offense that features A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith anyway.

A former NFL quarterback for Dallas and the Detroit Lions, Moore retired in 2018. Soon after, he signed on to be the Cowboys' quarterbacks coach. In 2019, the Cowboys promoted him to become their offensive coordinator until 2023, when he and Dallas agreed to part ways.

For the 2023 NFL season, Moore was the offensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Chargers. Now, he could look to return to the NFC East, where the 35-year-old spent most of his time as a player and coach. That said, this isn't the first time the Eagles have expressed interest in Moore.

Back in 2020, when Moore was still working for Dallas, Philadelphia was one of the candidates the Eagles had identified as an OC candidate before ultimately electing not to have a traditional offensive coordinator. Then, in 2021, the Eagles again had Moore on their radar as a potential candidate for their head coach opening before signing Nick Sirianni to that position.

After the Eagles' momentous collapse to end the 2023 season, losing five of their last six season games of the regular season and having a disappointing showing against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the wild-card round, Sirianni and Philadelphia will be looking to figure out what went wrong after Johnson and defensive coordinator Sean Desai were fired.

With Vic Fangio slated to be the Eagles' next defensive coordinator, Sirianni explained what he's looking for in Philadelphia's next offensive coordinator.

"A guy who has a vision, a guy who is going to call the plays, a guy who is going to be able to coach the quarterback in the same sense there, so it's just about getting the right guy," Sirianni told ESPN. "But I'm hiring him to do a job and to be in charge of the offense."

With Sirianni now in the hot seat after the Eagles' collapse, the onus is on him to find the right person to lead Philadelphia back to the Super Bowl and beyond. And despite Moore having been with the Cowboys in years past, the Eagles are looking past his history and the rivalry if it meant getting back to the Super Bowl with a chance to win.
