“Chaffles” is a term coined by the combination of cheese + waffles = chaffles. While the name sounds a little strange, the taste and simplicity of these recipes more than makes up for it! Below you will find three delicious and savory chaffle recipes…and you can make them in as little as 10 minutes!

Original Chaffle

First is a Original Chaffle recipe. Eat as is, topped with butter, or tear it in half or quarters to use as a bread replacement for a sandwich.

Pizza Chaffle

The second chaffle recipe is my personal favorite, the Pizza Chaffle. Feel free to use a variety of classic pizza toppings, but below is our family’s favorite, pepperoni! Dip in you favorite marinara sauce (I love Rao’s) and enjoy!

Cheddar Jalapeño Chaffle

Last but not least, one of my favorite combos, the Cheddar Jalapeño Chaffle! Feel free to adjust the amount jalapeño you use depending on how spicy you like your food. If you really like spicy foods, you can skip chopping the jalapeño slices and just add them into the recipe in whole slices. If you like a more mild spice, chop the jalapeño slices into small pieces and use as little or as much as you’d like.

Hi! I’m excited to try this, but I was wondering what waffle irons are good? I’ve been reading reviews on Amazon and none of them seem great. Any tips from anyone? Thanks in advance!

Suzanne, if the Original Chaffle is for 2 people, and at 246 calories, I assume you make one Chaffle with the ingredients and cut it in half? Each person has one half of the Chaffle, is that correct?

By the way, I have both of your cookbooks and love them both!

    FAQs

How many carbs are in 2 chaffles? ›

    Chaffles Nutrition And Carb Count

But in general, assuming you use real, whole milk cheese like cheddar or mozzarella (as opposed to cream cheese or American cheese), chaffles are entirely carb-free. A typical serving size of two chaffles contains roughly: 300 calories. 0g total carbs.

Are chaffles good for you? ›

Eating 1 chaffle is almost 50% of that recommended daily intake. For that reason, I definitely wouldn't refer to them as a health food, but they are not necessarily unhealthy, either. Both cheese and eggs are a great high-quality protein source, and cheese is a great source of calcium.

How long will chaffles last in the fridge? ›

Another option is to keep it in the fridge for up to 5 days. Once you've let the chaffles cool, you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator or freezer. To reheat the chaffles place them in the toaster or you can microwave them for 30-60 seconds, or in the oven at 180/350 degrees.

Why do my chaffles stick? ›

If your chaffle sticks to your waffle maker leaving behind a big gooey mess, you probably didn't let it cook long enough.

How many carbs bump you out of ketosis? ›

Eating more than 50 grams of carbs may disrupt ketosis.

With keto diets, however, carb restrictions vary from person to person. Some people can eat more and still stay in ketosis, whereas others may need to restrict their carb intake more in order to stay in ketosis.

How many carbs keep you out of ketosis? ›

A person on the keto diet should limit their carb intake to up to 50 g a day. A person generally replaces high carb foods with fatty foods, such as eggs, dairy products, and fresh meat and fish. Wheat products and some fruits, vegetables, beans, and legumes can be high in carbs, so checking food labels is key.

Is cottage cheese dirty keto? ›

Cottage cheese, like ricotta, is not as keto-friendly, and you should limit the amount you eat if you're on a strict keto diet, says Weiss. While cottage cheese is known for its high protein content, it also contains a relatively high amount of carbs and not that much fat, making it a less-than-ideal choice for keto.

What is the difference between a waffle maker and a chaffle maker? ›

While chaffles are made with different ingredients than traditional waffles, they are both made in the same machine. The most important feature to look for when buying a waffle maker for chaffles is nonstick plates or griddles.

Can you put a chaffle in the toaster? ›

The best way to reheat a chaffle is through a toaster or toaster oven. Toast it like you would a slice of bread until crisp and warm. If you don't own a toaster or toaster oven, you can also reheat in the oven! Preheat the oven to 350℉ and bake for 10 minutes, or until crispy and warm in the center.

    Do chaffles reheat well? ›

How do I reheat my chaffles? You can reheat your chaffles by letting them thaw, and then toasting them in the toaster, or you can wrap them in a damp paper towel and microwave them for 30-60 seconds.

What do chaffles taste like? ›

This may sound crazy, but it totally works. Chaffles taste like super crispy, cheesy waffles, but with such a mild flavor that you could drench it in syrup and not even know the difference between these and regular waffles! Except your traditional waffle has tons of carbs, and the net carbs in these are way less!

Why is my waffle maker smoking? ›

If you don't clean it, the build-up of batter and grease can cause the waffle maker to smoke and overheat.

    Can you freeze chaffles? ›

Yes, you can easily freeze chaffles. Allow the chaffles to completely cool off, then place them in a freezer bag (with parchment paper between each so they don't stick together). These are best eaten within a month of being frozen, but they technically are fine for 6 months.

Why don t my waffles stay crispy? ›

Not waiting until the iron heats up properly means your waffles will cook, but never achieve that satisfyingly crisp exterior. Overworking the batter will leave your waffles dense and chewy instead of light and airy. And stacking even the most perfect waffles will cause them to become soggy and limp in minutes.

How many carbs are in one Chaffle? ›

This basic chaffle recipe has just 1.4 net carbs per chaffle.

Is 2 grams of carbs a lot for keto? ›

The ketogenic diet typically limits carbohydrate intake to 50 grams or less daily and can even be as low as 20 grams. Usually, recommended ketogenic diets involve consuming 70-80% fat, 5-10% carbohydrate, and 10-20% protein from daily calories.

How many calories in a single chaffle? ›

There are 156 calories in 1 waffle Chaffle.
